• Dec 10 – Dementia-friendly Xenia Concert: OKAN

    In partnership with TO Live, Alzheimer Society of Toronto, and Baycrest@Home, Xenia Concerts is proud to present the women-led, Afro-Cuban roots and jazz ensemble, OKAN! Taking their name from the word for heart or soul in the Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria, JUNO-Award winning OKAN fuses Afro-Cuban roots with jazz, folk and global rhythms in songs about immigration, courage and love. We promise that they will have you dancing in your chairs or your own home-made dance floor, so get ready to move to the music!

    Ladom Ensemble combines piano, cello, accordion, and percussion in a unique blend of acoustic chamber and world music that is passionate, sophisticated, and wild. Their all-original repertoire incorporates inspirations from Argentinean tango, Serbian folk and dance traditions, Persian classical repertoire, as well as music from the Classical (Bach, Prokofiev), and progressive rock worlds (Radiohead). Ladom doesn’t pretend to represent any one tradition, but rather expresses an authentically Canadian fusion.
