Where did the time go? Xenia is 5 years old, and we want to celebrate with all our friends and supporters on December 16th! Our series has come so far…
The Xenia Concerts initiative was launched by the Cecilia String Quartet during the 2014-2015 season as a pilot program that aimed to present a series of concerts designed to be welcoming of people with autism and their families. The first concerts were presented early 2015 at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts, Xenia’s very first partner organization, and were met with an enormous amount of acclaim for both their quality and accessibility.
Since then, in response to continuing demand, Xenia Concerts has grown. In May of 2016 Xenia Concerts Inc. officially became a non-profit organization, and in March 2017 Xenia became a registered charity. Each season, the number of concerts offerings has also increased, and for the 2018-2019 the organization is planning to present 20 concerts in the GTA and beyond!
Throughout all of this growth Xenia Concerts Inc. has remained true to its core values and mission: to offer high quality music and arts performances, presentations, and educational programs, in an environment that welcomes those who might not have access to such events due to physical, mental, or financial barriers. At a Xenia concert, audience members are welcome to sit, stand, dance, laugh, cry, shout, and sing as they watch the performance – any activity that allows you to express your enjoyment for the music is welcome!
We invite all of our friends and supporters to join us in celebrating this event on December 16th – join us for an incredible performance by the acclaimed Mercer-Park Duo followed by some light refreshments in celebration of our 5th season at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts.
