Pulse Music Collective TO

Pulse Music Collective TO was formed in 2019 as a collaboration between a music therapist and a professional cellist who saw the inherent connections between both areas of practice within the realm of the performing arts. Dr. SarahRose Black (music therapist specializing in oncology and palliative care clinical music psychotherapy) and Dr. Andrew Ascenzo (professional cellist, educator, and producer) came together to showcase and highlight the profound effects that music can have on our health as individuals and as a society.

Together, they have performed and lectured for community arts organizations including the Canadian Opera Company, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Public Library, Google Canada, Pocket Concerts, and the Room 217 Foundation, in addition to numerous self-produced online videos, as well as performances and educational opportunities for non-profit organizations, universities, and schools. SarahRose and Andrew seek to share the incredibly unique intersections between the performing arts and music therapy in order to invite audiences across the country to hear music with new perspective and to more deeply understand the incredible impact that music can have on our well-being.
