ASD Band, featuring four talented performers on the autism spectrum – vocalist Rawan Tuffaha, vocalist and lead guitar Jackson Begley, keyboardist Ron Adea and drummer Spenser Murray – was formed in 2019. The band debuted in grand style, playing alongside rock legend Roger Hodgson and a 43-piece orchestra for a performance of ‘Give A Little Bit.’ After recording cover songs including the Imagine Dragons ‘Follow You’ which the Dragons’ drummer called “such a great and inspiring performance,” ASD Band composed and arranged their first EP, ‘Fireflies’. The process of creating the album was captured in the feature-length documentary, “ASD BAND: THE MOVIE!”, which was awarded a prestigious Audience Award at the Hot Docs International Film Festival, won best Canadian feature film at Montreal’s FIFA Film Festival, and will be airing on PBS in April 2025. In 2022, ASD was invited to open Hayden’s ‘Dream Serenade’ benefit concert at Toronto’s Massey Hall, and in 2023, was chosen to be on ‘Canada’s Got Talent’, receiving four “yesses” from the judges. In 2024, they were featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show. The band’s new album, ‘Almost Flawless’, will be released in early 2025.
