Min-Jeong Koh, Violin

Together with the members of the Cecilia String Quartet (Sarah, Caitlin, and Rachel), Min-Jeong co-founded Xenia Concerts in 2014. Since then, she has performed for the organization in festivals across Canada with both the CSQ and her pianist sister, Boyon Koh. The Koh Duo is thrilled to be back this winter to perform once again for the Xenia family.

Min-Jeong recently joined the faculty at The Glenn Gould School and the Taylor Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music where she teaches violin, chamber music, and pedagogy. At the Glenn Gould School specifically, she leads Pedagogy for the Artist Diploma students.

Bo-Yon Koh, Piano

Pianist Bo-Yon Koh enjoys a versatile career as a musician, educator, and researcher. As a soloist, she has appeared with the National Academy Orchestra, the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she is the recital partner to the violinist Min-Jeong Koh, and has collaborated with many other internationally recognized artists such as the violinist Conrad Chow, violist Richard Yongjae O’neill, cellist Liza McLellan, and the members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Koh is passionate about pedagogy, the arts and science of teaching, and strongly believes in the value of facilitating student-centered learning in her lessons. A certified Solution-Focused Coach, Dr. Koh takes every opportunity to empower her students to become independent learners, equipping them with tools to regulate their learning when they are on their own. Her innovative approach has been presented at conferences in both music and counseling disciplines, such as the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy and the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Conference.

Dr. Koh holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Toronto, Master of Music degree from Boston University, and a performance diploma from the Glenn Gould School.
